The magnificent Oyster Box Hotel situated in KZN, South Africa

Voted the No 1 Top Hotel in South Africa's TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Awards 2017. This serene location can be found situated just off the feet of Umhlanga’s beachfront overlooking the warm Indian Ocean and the iconic lighthouse, The Oyster Box, a Member of Red Carnation Hotel Collection, in the KwaZulu Natal province.

The Reception - Had me at Hello!

The hotel really is the ultimate in colonial charm and style, seen in the rich textures which run through the entire hotel and in the mood and appeal as you walk down the red carpet through the reception area. If there ever was a place which made me feel VIP while still feeling basic to normal, it's this place.

We entered the lush reception area, checked in swiftly and were lead to our rooms on the second floor overlooking the beautiful ocean from our balcony's. The views are so typically South African but yet so extravagant you would feel you are far far away some place exotic.

The Pool Area - Relax like a Queen

A massive crystal clear pool, heated to the perfect temperature which i accompanied by a deck area for dining [having an early morning breakfast overlooking the sea and breathing the fresh air - PRICELESS] beach chairs to sunbathe on, a bar area and even space for a makeshift spa.

A Spa by the pool - Say what?

The ladies from the spa located on the premises come down everyday till noon to do mani and pedi's - all you have to do is write your name on their booking list and for under R200 you can have pretty looking hands and toes. What else is more perfect than this kind of service!

Time Lapse - Sunrise to Sunset

We stayed in an inter-leading room - had the best of two rooms. Very richly decorated, but stunning bathrooms and cosy beds and couches, with a tea and coffee station as well as mini bar and luxe bath gowns.

The hotel was peaceful, relaxing and so refreshing. The views only add to your stay and I still can't get over the beautiful, picturesque pictures I took - the looked even better in person. I have included the below gallery of images I took at different parts of the day - from sunrise to sunset :-)

A gorgeous South African destination with amazing service, beautiful views, and a comfortable and relaxing mood - I mean what else can you ask for in a mini getaway.

I will admit, it is a bit on the pricey side but considering what you get for what you spend it's pretty worth it. If you are a seaside kind of person, love the sun and enjoy the escape from reality, then this is the place for you.

I will admit that you can experience a seaside holiday for cheaper in SA but nothing will quite compare to the luxe treatment you get here as well as the simple convenience of having a holiday and being carefree about almost everything because they take care of everything for you.

I can't wait to go back and experience all this over again! Till next time :-)

Peace&Love
